Becoming Octopussy to rebel against fossil capitalism with tentacular punk inspired by Pussy Riot

Becoming Bat: Performativ meditation. Have you ever imagined what it feels like to fly and scream in the dark of night? During this hour you can become a bat through performative meditation with soundscapes of bat screams and poetic reading.

Becoming Ivy: Choreograpic games between sound and movement

The attachment strategy of English ivy- a complex mechanism acting on several hierarchical levels.pdf577.33 KB • PDF File

I often walk to Assistant Cemetery at Nørrebro. I am always amazed watching various vine plants climbing up the walls or trees in the park. They use their tendrils to reach out to other plants and trees. I see life full of vitality and movements in tendrils, almost moving like animals. In Korean, tendrils are called ‘vine hands’. Indeed, tendrils move like our hands. I always have the impulse to do a high five when I see them. Can you move your hands like tendrils? Coiling, twirling, reaching, holding, grabbing towards the sunlight and different species. Tendrils know that species diversity increase chances for survival and prosperity. I hope humans can learn from this, although differences might scare us. Every year, when autumn and winter come, the park turns gray, all the leaves disappear, and the trees almost look like they are dying. However, there is still one species greeting us with evergreen light. It is Ivy. Some people think Ivy is a parasitic plant and hate them. However, they are not. They protect the buildings they climb from rain, keep them warm, and clean the urban air. Many trees are strong enough for Ivy to climb them. Some weak trees may die when Ivy blocks sunlight. However, in Denmark, as many dead trees are needed in forests for insects like beetles, the dead trees make way for new life. Ivy is a structure-less plant, and it follows the shape of frames, buildings, and trees, which means it is flexible and adaptable. It follows and imitates. For example, one vine plant in South America is a master at this. It not only follows the trees it climbs, it also imitates the colors and shapes of leaves of the tree. Some scientist questions this. Does this plant have eyes? How can it know the shape of the tree’s leaves? Plants may use different types of eyes for their communication. How can we feel shapes? - Not by seeing, but by using your different senses? What if your hands had eyes? If you spot Ivy climbing up on an old oak tree, the ivy is also probably old. Only Ivy older than 7~10 years is mature, will bloom and produce fruits. If you see Oak tree and Ivy together, you better believe they are wise elders, probably communicating secretly, sharing their oldest wisdom. As said before, Ivy is an evergreen plant that stays green all winter. This provides habitats for small animals and insects during winter. While other plants bloom during spring, Ivy is the only plant that flowers and produces fruits in autumn, providing food for insects when they are starving. Ivy’s abilities to connect, follow, imitate together with its flexibility let ivy receive help from the other species, and give back to the other species as well. Then how about you? How about us? Do you receive and give like Ivy? Do you reach out when you are in need of help? Who do you lean on? Or what do you lean on? Who do you follow? What do you imitate for your survival and prosperity? What do you give to others?
